I have more feedback from a chemist, Mr. Wayne Fretz,  who claims chemicals if used in small amounts are perfectly safe for you and pose no danger. Well everyone is entitled to their own views and surely a chemist would be able to give a balanced view on the subject.

Hmmmmmm! See what you think after reading the transcript.

I have my doubts quite frankly that everyday exposure to water can cause long term health problems as Wayne suggests, but then chemists do see things differently to those of us who are perhaps a little more in tune with nature and the environment.

So in fairness to Wayne just like anyone else who cares to write to me defending the use of "safe chemicals" I will always publish what they write so visitors to the site can make their own mind up about how fair we are to the opposing side of the story.

My reply to Wayne is below.

Dear Support,
I have been a highly respected formulation development chemist for more than 40 years, and as such it has been my business to study the performance and safety of compounds used in today's skin care and hair care products.

I ran across your site when I was looking for something else. I simply cannot believe what I read about the toxicity of most of the compounds that you list. This is sheer garbage - even worse than the lies put out by Neways. Most of your listed compounds have had a very safe history of use for many years. Are you simply take the MSDS on these compounds at 100% usage then passing the dangers onto products that may contain only 0.1% of the compound.

Being a chemist, I can just laugh at you. My biggest concern is that the average consumer is not a chemist so he or she is led to believe your baloney.

By the way, you forgot to mention WATER - since it is widely used in drain openers, toilet bowl cleaners and many deadly finished products.

As consumers become more aware about ingredients, you and companies like you will lose in the long run.

If you have good products to sell, then why don't you concentrate of the features and benefits of these. This way you will win.

I'm not expecting a response from you since my comments will go in the waste basket as soon as you read them.

Sincerely,

Wayne Fretz

Hi Wayne,

I welcome comments like this as I like to publish what others like you believe about synthetic chemicals and their long term safety as regards the health of individuals who have been exposed to man-made synthetic chemicals over a lifetime.

If, as you say, these chemicals have a "safe history for many years" then the public has nothing to worry about. I'm sure the average person of reasonable intellect can make their own decisions when it comes to using any of the 70,000 plus chemicals in relatively common use, especially when it comes to using "safe" chemicals on their own skin.

I'm happy to let people see there is more than one side to the chemical story. I for one and millions now like me, opt not to ingest chemicals in food nor to absorb chemicals through the skin. We endeavour to use produce/products which has not been poisoned by the over use of "safe" synthetic chemicals during the growing of the crops nor the processing and the manufacturing of the food/products for public consumption

It's entirely up to the consumer to assess what they would like to do with their health after reading the various information which is generally readily available on the Internet, provided one digs enough for it. I have just provided a service which allows interested consumers to find the information readily easily.

By the way, hundreds of thousands of people on a daily basis are seeking information about chemicals so they can make their own health decisions. The health-report site was launched 7 years ago after I had experienced over two decades of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. Perhaps you aren't aware such a syndrome exists and how common it is in this day and age? Little is done for these people and they are branded as malingerers and misfits by a largely unsympathetic medical profession who only treat the symptoms that chemists develop drugs, read chemicals, for.

The certified organic products we promote came along many years after making information about common synthetic chemicals readily available to the public via the health-report site. They happen to be an adjunct to the site, not the purpose of the site.

Having been a chemical spraying contractor since the late 1960's and exposed to countless "safe chemicals" of the time, during the course of my work, I can "just laugh at you" too, due to your sheer naivety of what is happening around you. It's your health your decision if you want to use chemicals, just like it's anyone else's decision to do the same!

Thanks for your comments. They will be published so visitors to the site know that concerned chemists can also have their say on the health-report.co.uk site.

You can view your comments on this page www.health-report.co.uk/safe_chemical_feedback.htm

PS. Please send on the information about the dangers of exposure to water. I would be very interested to see what scientific evidence there is against water. For instance what happens to people who drink pure water on a regular basis and expose their skin to it. Perhaps I'm missing something here that I am not aware of. Maybe there are synthetic chemical residues in the water that increases the risk to the user if water is consumed or the skin is exposed to it. LOL!

At this stage I am still awaiting a response from Wayne and the requested information about the dangers of water on long term health.
