Beware! Home business scams and pyramid schemes abound on the Internet
If you are asked to pay a substantial amount of money to get started in a work from home business or trading scheme then it is probably illegal under UK law.
Many pyramid scams, although illegal, still exist on the Internet and some Network companies right here in the UK sail very close to the wind as far as legality is concerned. If you are asked to contribute a considerable sum to get started in your own home business... then I suggest the person doing the sponsoring or recruiting is pocketing a good percentage of the starting price you are paying. In Network Marketing this is called front end loading and is a very bad home business opportunity to start in as it is difficult for the average person to make work!
Invariably new distributors hoping to work from home to earn that extra income... lose their money in these schemes because their sponsor is only interested in recruiting new people so they can pocket wholesale bonuses. In other words they are being paid to recruit you! The slick sales type recruiters, simply aren't interested in helping you to make money yourself. Their modus operandi is to keep throwing people at the wall to see how many stick there. Ultimately these trading schemes fail because they run out of gullible people. It may take many years however, and destroy the credibility of genuine home businesses and networking for countless hundreds of people who have been seriously burned by buying expensive stock they cannot sell! Stay well clear of any so-called home business opportunity where you are asked to pay substantial money up front.
Our suggestion to you is to do your due diligence on the company. You should be able to access high quality information direct from the company at a no cost to you to be able to make a fully informed decision. In our case we ask people who are looking for a home business opportunity to fill in a form to express their interest and we then email the relevant information to you. This will be PDF format documents which are professionally prepared by the company sent to you after you have given us permission to email you.
There are two reasons for doing this.
The material you receive is the genuine company produced literature. It is NOT a photocopied and poorly put together pack that only tells you part of the story. The company is bound by UK law to tell you the truth about the products and the trading scheme. Whereas free information posted direct from a distributor may well be misleading in many ways. It depends on how honest and trustworthy the Independent distributor is! Remember this... FREE postal information is not necessarily FREE! Someone must pay to put all the FREE information together. It may cost you dearly in the long run!
Sending free information by postal mail is not a duplicable system for Independent Distributors. Most distributors run out of money doing this and fail to duplicate this expensive way of running their business. Economising by sending only part of the information results in fewer... if any sign ups due to the fact the opportunity seeker cannot make an informed decision based on the poor information received.
The above is why we don't post FREE Information. It would cost us dearly to put a postal information pack together. We are not paid to do this! Do your own sums. If you were an Independent Distributor and sending out FREE information to all that asked for it, then how long would your budget last at an Average of say £5 per pop plus postage... a hundred packs?... two hundred?
It is a proven fact that less than 2% of people asking for FREE information actually do anything with it. In the meantime on top of the cost of sending the packs you will need to do follow up calls and chase up people on a regular basis by phone. Unless you commit to at least four follow ups per person you may not sponsor one person from 100 FREE info packs.
Perhaps you may realise now that "FREE "is not necessarily "FREE" in this case! If you were lucky enough to sponsor two people from a hundred "FREE" packs sent out then these two people alone would have cost you £250 each! How long do you think it would take for these two people to realise that sending "FREE" posted information isn't a viable proposition and simply give up with their work from home venture?
If a work at home trading scheme is offering "FREE" information but asking a large start up price... THINK AGAIN! You will find this method of operation is only duplicable by the experienced sales type recruiters that seem to gravitate to these network/pyramid programs. The average person starting in one of these high cost programs will invariably fail and bad mouth Network Marketing for the rest of their lives.
